  • 1. Determine the required UPS capacity: First, list all the equipment that needs to be protected, and obtain its voltage and power data from the backplane of the equipment. The two are multiplied to obtain the voltammetric value (VA). Then, calculate the sum of all loads in watts (W). Next, the UPS capacity is calculated according to the power factor, impact resistance and expansion requirements of the UPS. It is recommended to increase the VA value by 30% as reserved expansion capacity for system upgrade.

    2. Determine the required UPS type: According to the load's requirements for output stability, switching time and output waveform, select online, online interactive, backup, sine wave, square wave and other types of UPS. On-line UPS has good output stability and instantaneous response capability, is suitable for non-linear load and inductive load, has a high safety factor, and can resist a variety of violations on the power grid, such as high voltage, spike, surge and noise interference. For precision equipment, important equipment and high-end servers, online UPS is recommended. Avoid using interactive and backup UPS in areas with large fluctuations in mains power. If you need to use a generator with a short delay UPS, you recommend use an online UPS, because the voltage and frequency stability of ordinary generators are poor, which may cause the interactive and backup UPS to work abnormally.

    3. Determine the required battery backup time: Determine the battery backup time according to the working time required by the device after power failure. It should be noted that the battery cost used by the long delay model may exceed the UPS host itself. Therefore, it is recommended to choose better quality batteries to improve the reliability of the UPS system.

    4. Additional functions: In order to improve system reliability, it is recommended to use UPS hot backup system, which can be selected as series hot backup or parallel hot backup. For small capacity UPS(1 ~ 2KVA), redundant switches can also be used. In addition, remote monitoring panel can be selected to realize remote monitoring and control of UPS; monitoring software is selected to realize intelligent management between computer and UPS; network adapter is selected to realize network management based on SNMP; lightning protection device can be equipped in rainy and thundery areas.
